After I heard the saying, "You don't know  which toxin's gonna get you," I decided to pay closer attention to what's in the food I eat, the stuff I put on my body (soap, shampoo, hair gel), and even the clothes I buy.

Opportunities to ingest toxins are everywhere - from genetically modified crops sprayed with pesticides, to ground water poisoned with industrial waste that makes its way into the water supply...

There are pollutants in the air we breathe, parabens and other harmful chemicals in products that touch our skin - even  in the sunscreen that's supposed to be protecting us and our children!

I never thought reading labels would  be a survival skill, but it is.

Processed foods are packed with harmful  chemicals: high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), hydrogenated oils, refined vegetable oils (like corn or soybean oil), artificial sweeteners, additives, colorings, dyes, and nasty preservatives (like MSG).

This is the first time I haven't been constantly hungry since I was a kid.

Shopping the outer aisles of the grocery is also a good idea. Produce and lean meats are better choices for your health and longevity than sugar-laden cereals and boxes of processed "food."
